What the Bank customers need to know about ISO 20022 standard
Starting in 2025, Kazakhstan will use the international standard ISO 20022 for communications between financial institutions. This standard will be regulated by the National Bank of Kazakhstan and used by commercial banks.
You have nothing to worry about! You will be able to keep making payments and transfers as usual.
What is ISO 20022
ISO 20022 is an international standard for the exchange of data between banks and financial institutions. It determines the rules and message formats that are used in financial transactions.
What is important to know?
- According to the decree of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the transition to the ISO 20022 format has been postponed to 2025.
- All card transactions (card payments, ATM cash withdrawals, P2P, P2M) will remain available.
- All transfers and payments will remain unchanged and will operate as usual.
