Halyk turned 100 years in 2023!
As part of its anniversary, the Bank launched the "100 Good Deeds" project. Throughout 2023, Halyk implemented socially significant projects and charitable initiatives in the areas of health, education, culture, and environment all over Kazakhstan.
Over the year, the Bank organized several important and large-scale events for the people of Kazakhstan.
In January 2023, the Bank offered an opportunity for residents and guests of Kazakhstan to go ice-skating for free. Over several days in the cities and regions of the country, people were invited to enjoy free ice skating and savor wonderful and pleasant memories of the time.
The participants appreciated the initiative, and sincerely congratulated Halyk on its anniversary.

In March 2023, Halyk congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on Nauryz in a special way. The Bank arranged yurts in cities and regions of the country, and treated guests to delicious traditional dishes.
Guests also enjoyed performance by guest singers, and took pictures with TikTok house participants.

On 10 April 2023, Amanat party and Halyk signed a memorandum of the “Qaryzsyz qogam" project ([Debt Free Community]. The project is aimed at raising financial literacy of troubled borrowers among retail customers.
In total, the project covered about 80 thousand residents of rural settlements, including eight regions of the country: Aktobe, Almaty, Turkestan, North Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Atyrau and Mangistau oblasts.

In 2023, Halyk relaunched the People’s League for children from sponsored orphanages and boarding schools across Kazakhstan.
The project was successfully implemented from 2005 to and including 2019. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had to be temporarily suspended. In 2023, the Bank resumed the "People's League" as part of the 100 Good Deeds.
For 14 years, Halyk has funded basketball lessons for children from orphanages and boarding schools with top regional mentors, providing teams with practice and game uniforms, and sports equipment.

Halyk Bank has become a co-organizer of the return of the legendary "Voice of Asia" festival. For the first time the "Voice of Asia" concert took place in 1990, and until 2005, both Kazakhstani and foreign stars performed on the stage. In 2023, in honor of its 100th anniversary, Halyk decided to revive this iconic event.
From July 28 to 30, modern stars and legendary kazakh pop artists performed on the stage of the Medeu high-mountain skating rink. The headliners of the concert were the Uzbek group "Yalla", the swedish Secret Service and the american group The Black Eyed Peas.

Free of charge gas supply
Halyk Bank have financed the connection of 200 houses in Almaty and Astana to the natural gas supply system.
Based on the information from the local akimats, the houses of vulnerable social groups were connected to the infrastructure. Memorandums of Cooperation were signed between the Akimats of Almaty, Astana, and Halyk Bank.
This project was implemented throughout 2023. The preliminary budget was estimated at KZT 230 million.
Halyk fully financed all stages - from bringing gas to the residential house to connecting all gas utilities and installing the necessary equipment.

The 18th day of June saw Astana Half Marathon in the capital of Kazakhstan. Halyk Bank was the general partner by supporting the event as part of its 100th anniversary.
Astana Half Marathon 2023 was attended by over 6,000 sport fans and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts from several dozen countries. Marathon runners tested their skills in 21.1 and 10 kilometer races, 10 kilometer Nordic walking and 21 kilometer group relay marathon race.
The event was also attended by almost 60 employees of the Bank from different branches and regions of the country.

During the year of its anniversary, Halyk offered a series of open-air concerts for the people of Kazakhstan. In 2022, such an event was only held in Almaty, but in 2023, guests and residents of three more regions will enjoy Summertime Music in My Favorite City.
The distinctive vision of the festival was to bring together different musical genres and directions, which opened the door to the world of art and musical creativity for all guests.
In July 2023, on the eve of the World Environment Day, the sustainable fashion and art event "Reuse. Recycle. Reduce" was held in Almaty. The event was organized by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kazakhstan, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Halyk, the country’s leading bank. The purpose of this event was to attract wide audience and to inspire participants to join the global fight against plastic pollution.
One of the highlights of the event was a runway show of a fashion collection. These creative outfits embodied the idea of reusing and recycling materials, illustrating the potential of sustainable fashion to help save the environment.

Halyk annually participates in the Road to School national campaign and helps underprivileged children in all regions of Kazakhstan by purchasing backpacks with necessary school supplies for them before the start of the academic year.
In 2023, as part of its 100th anniversary, Halyk presented first-graders in 25 regions and cities of Kazakhstan with a full set of school supplies and orthopedic backpacks.

In 2023 the documentary 100 Years with People! was produced and released for Halyk’s birthday.
It is a film about the history and foundation of Halyk Bank, its role in the life of the people and country. It features rare archive materials, interesting and little-known facts told by those who shaped this history.
