Halyk Donated a Mobile Environmental Laboratory to Ust-Kamenogorsk for Air Quality Monitoring

A ceremonial handover of a mobile environmental laboratory purchased by Halyk Bank as a gift to the region took place today at the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan Region. This marks an important step in developing the air quality monitoring system in Ust-Kamenogorsk and strengthening environmental safety for local residents. The project cost amounts to 65.5 million tenge. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for rapid air analysis and is fully ready for operation.

Commenting on the handover of the mobile laboratory, Tlegen Matkenov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk, emphasized that for the bank it is important not only to support environmental initiatives, but also to provide practical tools that genuinely help address the region’s pressing challenges. “This reflects our ESG principles and our responsibility to society,” he concluded.

The laboratory analyzes air for all key components typical of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk using high-precision electrochemical measurement methods, including: SO₂ (sulfur dioxide), H₂S (hydrogen sulfide), NOₓ (nitrogen oxides), CO (carbon monoxide), HCl (hydrogen chloride), Cl₂ (chlorine), NH₃ (ammonia).

The mobile environmental laboratory will serve as an additional instrument for conducting air quality measurements throughout the city. This will allow for rapid response to deteriorating environmental conditions and ensure data transparency for residents and government agencies.

Nurymbet Saktaganov, Akim of the Region, expressed his gratitude to Halyk Bank for its contribution to improving the region’s environment and stressed that in the current context it is essential to provide timely information to the public about air quality.

The mobile environmental laboratory is not the first charitable project implemented by Halyk in the East Kazakhstan Region. This year, the bank purchased a vehicle worth 12.6 million tenge for the regional hospital to transport patients and medical staff. Additionally, as part of the “Road to School” initiative, the bank donated school backpacks with a full set of stationery supplies to 100 first-grade students from large families.
