Halyk Bank announces that Sustainalytics, a leading global provider of ESG ratings, analytics and research, as a result of the latest annual review has upgraded the Bank’s ESG Risk Rating from 39.7 (“High Risk”) to 26.9 (“Medium Risk”)*.

This rating upgrade demonstrates the Bank’s enhanced ESG risk management practices, demonstrating better internal systems, controls and transparency.

According to Sustainalytics’ latest review, the key factors behind the rating improvement include enhancements in the Bank’s ESG governance framework, responsible lending standards, as well as cybersecurity programme, alongside with verification of ESG reporting.

“This achievement underscores Halyk Bank’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its strategy and aligning with global best practices. The Bank will continue working to further improve its ESG performance, strengthen stakeholder confidence, and contribute to the development of a sustainable financial sector in the region” – as noted in the Bank’s statement.

* According to Sustainalytics’ methodology, the ESG Risk Rating measures a company’s exposure to material ESG risks and how well those risks are managed. Scores range from “Negligible” (0–10) to “Severe” (40+), with lower scores indicating lower ESG risk.
